The powertrain package of the CX-50 Hybrid - a 2.5 liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine, hybrid EV battery, three electric motors, e-CVT, and e-AWD - has been meticulously crafted to ensure it delivers Mazda's signature driving dynamics.
e-CVT
A new, electronically-controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (e-CVT) is carefully tuned to maintain responsiveness and the intimately connected feel of our traditional automatic transmission.
e-AWD
A unique electronic All-Wheel Drive (e-AWD) system uses the hybrid electric motors to drive the front and rear wheels independently, with the rear motor powering the rear wheels directly when front wheel traction is diminished. This e-AWD system continues to provide the confident driving feeling of every other CX-50 model.
Drive Modes
Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) lets you instantly choose from different drive modes to help you handle most driving conditions with confidence. Power Mode increases acceleration response when you need a little extra, while Trail Mode optimizes the electric motors power delivery to the wheels with traction and improves the running performance on uneven terrain.
