Performance

While these two SUVs are well-matched in their horsepower, the standard Dynamic Pressure turbo engine of the CX-9 generates up to 320 pound-feet of torque, giving you a quicker and more powerful acceleration. The Audi Q7's engine generates 273 pound-feet of torque.

Not only is the turbocharged engine of the CX-9 powerful, it is fuel efficient, traveling p to 22 mpg in cities like Laurel, MD and 28 mpg on the highway. The Audi Q7's engine allows this SUV to travel up to 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

Safety

While Audi models have a lot of innovative technology, the base trim of the Q7 lacks many driver-assist safety features comparable to the i-ACTIVSENSE® features of the CX-9, which help prevent accidents on the streets in Washington, DC. The Q7 has a lane departure warning feature, but does not come standard with Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, or a radar automatic cruise control feature, all of which are standard on the Mazda CX-9.

Price and Warranties

Above all, the Mazda CX-9 gives you a lot for a price that's more than $20,000 lower than the starting price of the Audi Q7. The Mazda brand even offers more comprehensive warranties, including five years/60,000 miles (whichever comes first) of powertrain coverage. The standard powertrain warranty from Audi cuts off after four-years or 50,000 miles.
