Explore the new Mazda CX-5 in or around Washington DC

If you're expecting a lot from your next vehicle, the Mazda CX-5 might just exceed those expectations. As an affordably priced SUV, the new CX-5 offers a lot of value. It has style and elegance both inside and outside, and it gives people the luxury of having advanced technology and safety features. Whether you're traveling through Washington, DC or Baltimore, you can feel comfortable and confident.

Style & Space

Mazda has been guided by the principles of something called "Kodo design." This approach to design involves the idea that less is more. With the CX-5, carefully designed curves and angles give the SUV an aerodynamic feeling, and inside the cabin, the streamlined look continues. The CX-5 has a good-sized interior, and you'll be able to comfortably fit three people in the back. They'll get to stretch out a bit with almost 40 inches of leg room. In terms of carrying cargo, you'll have 30.9 cubic feet of storage space in the dedicated trunk area. If you lower the back seats, you'll expand cargo capacity to 59.6 cubic feet.

Safety Features

Mazda has focused a lot on its customers' safety, and it has put in many standard driver-assist features in the CX-5. High Beam Control saves you from having to manually switch back and forth between your high and low beams.

The Lane Departure Warning and Lane-Keep Assist systems ensure that you'll stay centered in your lane. Advanced radar cruise control can be used to maintain proper distancing, rather than just maintaining a set speed. Blind Spot Monitoring can be useful when changing lanes, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert can warn you if you're about to back up into the path of another car. Finally, Smart Brake Support can help you slow down or even come to a stop to avoid frontal collisions. Higher trims come with adaptive front lighting, a system in which the headlights can adjust their angles depending on the direction you're heading in.

There are two engines that the Mazda CX-5 can be powered by. The Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring all have a 187-horsepower, 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G engine. It has 186 pound-feet of torque, and it's paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. You can get any of these three trims with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The top two trims, the Grand Touring Reserve and the Signature, have more capability. They both run on a 2.5T engine that can generate 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. These trims are only available with all-wheel drive. Note that Mazda's all-wheel drive system is on demand; in other words, power will be sent to the rear wheels only when necessary to maintain traction.

Even the base model of the CX-5 comes with many high-tech features. The Sport trim comes with a seven-inch touchscreen, Pandora and Stitcher internet radio integration, Bluetooth capability, HD radio, and the ability to accept certain voice commands. In the Sport, you can keep your devices charged with the two front USB ports. The Touring gets upgraded to have two additional rear USB charging ports as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Seamless smartphone integration is a major reason why so many of our Pasadena and Laurel customers end up choosing the Touring trim. In the Grand Touring, there's the addition of SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and you get to enjoy a Bose audio sound system with ten speakers. The touchscreen gets enlarged to eight inches in the top two trims, which also have an active driving display that projects key information about vehicle performance onto the windshield behind the steering wheel. Navigation and a 360-degree camera are included with the Signature.
